Blackstone Fortress: 1.2 Aims

You can find the start of this project here.

Now that I've laid out what has inspired me to take on this project - it's time to figure out what I'm going to do. Fortunately the models side of the equation is relatively easy - they're a fixed variety and come in the boxes that I already have:

Heroes: (11)
Janus Draik, Rogue Trader
Taddeus the Purifier, Ministorum Priest
Espern Locarno, Imperial Navigator
Pious Vorne, Missionary Zealot
UR-025, Imperial Robot
Dahyak Grekh, Kroot Tracker
Amallyn Shadowguide, Asuryani Ranger
Ratling Twins, Rein and Raus
Obsidius Mallex, Chaos Lord
Ambull

Specials: (6)
2 Chaos Space Marines
2 Rogue Psykers
2 Borewyrm Infestations

Troops: (30)
4 Chaos Beastmen
4 Ur-Ghuls
4 Negavolt Cultists
4 Spindle Drones
14 Traitor Guardsmen

A total of 47 models with a lot of those being fairly highly detailed 'hero' type models.

The much, much harder part of this project will be the deadline. I simply don't have a reliable group for playing this and given the style of game - you really do want the same people to play with week over week. This is the reason why the box has remained in shrink, on a shelf for a good month before I even got this far.

I am so excited by this game and the mechanics and the models and painting them... but then I look at it and ask myself - to what end? Last year I painted up Descent, Space Hulk, Burning of Prospero and I've already painted TMNT Shadows of the Past this year. None have gotten played nor are they likely to any time soon... So why go to all the time and effort of painting them not to mention the added expense of a decent storage solution once painted? Because I'm nothing if not predictable in my stupidity.

Instead of working on a target playing deadline - I figured I would work to a deadline based on other commitments. I have a piece I am currently working on for Warhammer Fest on May 11th. My next painting tournament is August 29th. I am hoping to get a new model painted up between those two competitions so it's going to be a tight window to get this project in between these two.

So do I wait for September to work on this project? Heck no! I'm on it. We're going to get this whole project painted up after Warhammer Fest and before Nova Open... so here goes!
- Raggy, signing out
